Roger William Ross, age 83, of Lonsdale, peacefully passed away surrounded by family, on September 1, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. He was a strong, but gentle man who was taken too soon by terminal cancer.

A Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 530 4th St. NW, Faribault, with the Reverend Robert E. Snyder officiating. Interment will be at German Union Cemetery, Rice County.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. and also on Friday, for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Roger William, the son of William and Bernice (Olson) Ross, was born on December 1, 1930 in Northfield. He was baptized into Christ in Millersburg. He was the oldest of three children. He graduated from Faribault High School and completed a carpentry course at Faribault Vo-Tech in 1949. Roger married Nancy Scott in 1961; together they started a family farm. They later divorced. Roger was an avid farmer through and through. He was a hard worker, who always wanted to provide for his family. When Roger could no longer physically work on the farm, you could still find him supervising. He can be at peace, knowing that the family farm will carry on.

Roger loved to spend time outdoors, and enjoyed quiet Sunday cruises after church. When he moved to St. Lucas Care Center, bingo became a favorite hobby, along with spending time with family and friends. He will remain very special to all who knew him.

He is survived by four children, Joseph Ross, of Mankato, Mark Terrance Ross, of Faribault, Jennifer (Tim) Wolff, of Lonsdale, and Daniel Ross, of Fort Walton Beach, FL; son-in-law, Bradley Wegner, of Rosemont; five grandchildren, Zachary Ross, Katie Dusbabek, Mitchell (Nichole) Wolff, Ruby and Brandon Wegner; two great grandchildren, Paityn and Broghan Wolff; two siblings, Robert Ross, of Faribault, and Allen (Kathy) Ross, of Lonsdale; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Linda Wegner.
