Service: Peace Lutheran Church - Faribault
  Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
   
Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home - Faribault on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m.
  And also one hour prior to the service on Friday

Kenneth H. Wegner, age 82, of Faribault, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home surrounded by family after battling cancer.

Funeral services will be at Peace Lutheran Church, Faribault, on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Robert L. Mundahl officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault, with military rites provided by Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. and also at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.

Kenneth Herbert Wegner, the son of Herbert and Lora (Kruckeberg) Wegner, was born on November 3, 1931 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School. He served in the United States Army as Staff Sergeant for 2 years. Ken married Lois Oberlander on May 15, 1955 and she preceded him in death. He farmed for several years and began working at McQuay’s of Faribault for 19 years. He moved to Perham and operated a resort on Rush Lake. He later worked for the Perham school district. During his retirement he began a rug weaving business called Wegner Weavers where he hand made over 5,000 rugs.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Wegner of Perham, Peter (and Antoinetta) Wegner of Faribault, Steve (and Vicki) Wegner of Lonsdale; one brother, Orville (and Evonne) Wegner of Faribault; special friend, Barb Duckett; two grandchildren, Tracy (and Ben) Favro of Faribault and Benjamin (and Samantha) Wegner of Northfield; a great grandson, Benson Favro; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois (Oberlander) Wegner; an infant son, David Wegner; and one brother and sister in-law, Duane (and Marlys) Wegner.

Memories

To me, Ken was always the "gentle giant" and "Ken Bear". I think this man would have given away everything to anyone who asked. He had the soul of an innocent child, and an unbound capacity to love those around him. I will miss him.
