Memories

What a wonderful, inspirational, hard working leader of a man, husband, father, son and grandpa that we have lost but will never be forgotten. No words can explain what kind of man Dave was. He set a path for so many to follow and left his boots that could never be filled by anyone else. I only got the privilege of knowing Dave for about 4 1/2 years(way to short) but I feel that I have been part of his family my entire life. I was welcomed from day one and formed a bond and friendship like no other. So many fishing trips and vacations thar will be missed in person but never in spirit, he will forever be in the boat next to me. He has set such an example of a man to me, his wonderful wife, daughters, grand kids and anyone who knew him. He always took care of every one in his life, even beyond them knowing it in ways only he could. From fixing just about anything you could imagine to cooking 10 pounds of crab legs for Christmas to making sure everything is taken care of if he was to leave us. I loved him as my own father and will miss him soooo much!!!! Early mornings and late nights in the boat, catching fish, not catching fish, sharing a few "polite" words at the access of Mille Lacs with fellow fisherman cutting in line to land their boat :-) some beers around the campfire and playing cards in the camper. I love you and miss you dearly and promis to do everything I can do to comfort and support your family. May you always have a tight line and calm waters.

Memories

I would like to thank everyone who has shared their thoughts and prayers. Your support of our family is amazing. Dave was blessed with many wonderful family members, friends and co-workers. He is the best husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend anyone could ever ask for. I know he is in heaven cooking with his mother and sister and fishing for a record walleye and the perfect score of 300 30x. I will miss the way his eyes lit up when he spend time with our grandchildren (the same way they did when he spent time with myself and his children). I could go on and on. Thanks again for all your support.

Memories

Kim & family, Even though it's been a while since seeing Burly hearing my 'little buddy' is now gracing Heaven with his presence made me remember the tough man with a heart of gold that I admired and considered a true friend. Many days with crazy good times were spent around him in our younger years and I always looked forward to giving & getting a hard time when I was around him. Many memories including my favorite and fastest car (black 76 Grand Prix) came from him and I was glad to get rid of my Honda in the deal. I'm praying God will comfort you through this terribly hard time and in the days to come. I will also miss him greatly. Love, respect and prayers, Bubba

A lot of you know him as Burly - I know him as dad. He taught me to be caring, to help others, to stick up for myself, to work hard, and to fish! I could not have asked for a better dad. I am so very thankful to all that came to pay their respects, share stories, and support our family. It's not goodbye, it's see you later. I love you dad.

Memories

I am David's oldest daughter many know of me but never met me. It was a great comfort to get to see how many lives my dad touched. I was not raised with my dad and it saddens me that I did not know how wonderful of a man he really was but I found that man through all of his friends today and that filled a great void in my heart. I too will miss his wittiness and humor ( and his chow mein!) Thank you to all of you for sharing your wonderful stories with me I feel as though I got to know him better through all of you! WHAT AN AMAZING GROUP OF PEOPLE YOU ALL ARE!!! I can see why my dad loved you all so much.

What a shock! I'm so sorry for you and your children's loss Kim. I remember Dave from long ago, before he met Kim. Giant of a man, giant of a friend. And with Kim, a gentle giant. The world is now a little smaller, emptier. RIP Burly.

Memories

Kim, Angela, Carrie, Jennifer, Caleb, Miguel, Adriana, Yandel........ I am SO sorry to hear of your loss. No easy way to say it. This just sucks. My memories of Dave whenever I saw him was him smiling (okay "twinkeling" ) and I always knew he had some sort of joke he needed to share. That man's heart was as big as his body. He would give you the shirt off his back. Kim, my heart has just been numb since Sherry sent me the news. You are one of the strongest women I know. I pray to God you find comfort in the next few days. I wish we could be there today with you all to give you a big hug. Love JoAnn & Bob Brooks

Memories

I'm truly sorry to hear the news of Dave's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I remember back in the day when I use to babysit Carrie and Jenny. Dave would give me strict order to not let the girls stay up later then bed time. But it never failed one of the girls would talk me into letting them stay up. Saying we wont get caught by Mom and Dad cause when we see the headlights we will run to bed. Well that never happened I ALWAYS got busted by Dave for letting the girls stay up later. He was a very caring man. He will be greatly missed.

Memories

I am so very sorry to hear about David. He was the kindest big man I have ever had the opportunity to meet. The fishing trip we took to Mille Lacs 2 years ago was an adventure of a lifetime : ) I still tell the story about the DNR agent cutting his hand open on Dave's boat. Then just like Dave had promised he put us on top of the perfect Walleye spot. The wind picked up and was tossing us around like a pop can in the ocean but Dave kept that boat on top of those Walleyes for us. Then after a very successful day/evening of fishing we head for shore only to be ran into by another boat without there lights on! Even after all that Dave and Kim opened up there cabin to me just like I was a member of the family so we could rest up to fish the next day. David was one of a kind - a gentle giant, and he will be missed very much. I know I will continue to look to the sky and ask Dave for help finding those Walleyes while I'm sitting there with no fish. And if it is at all possible I am positive that he will continue to guide me and watch over me like a little brother when I'm out there. Miss you already big man -I'm sure you already scouting for good lakes and bow hunting land up there :)I will think of you each time I am outdoors doing what we both have such a passion for -to hunt and fish. My deepest regrets - Dan

Memories

I am sending my sincere sympathy to all of you! We will forever remember David, though we did just meet him 6 months ago! We joined the Faribault archery club. Being new to the club he made us feel as if we had been there for a life time! My two daughters have achieved amazing goals because of his wonderful personalty! My son only 3 years old was always watched by David he had the biggest smile on his face and truly enjoyed my sons archery passion at the young age of 3!!!!! David was always the first to run and be sure that he had a fun animal target to shoot at!!!!! Then my husband and myself being first year coaches had lots of questions we coach the kids with the NASP Program with New Prague Archery Club! He always answered everything and more!!!! He would let us shoot his bows to try out new things and we now are hooked on bare bow ever since!!!! My girls attended there first 300 shoot at the club the last one you had for the year! David took his time and explained everything to them and to us as parents the girls ages 8 and 10 cant wait to join next year! We will always remember David in so many different ways but because of him he has truly enhanced our archery love to the extremes!!! We will think of him thankful to a wonderful start and how he had helped us in the future become wonderful archers, and coaches! You will be missed!!!! And always remembered!!!! Thank you for the wonderful gift you have passed all of us! The Franek Family

Memories

The Archery community has lost a great leader and friend! I enjoyed the times I got to talk to Dave at FAC during shoots and this winter when he came down to Straight River Archery Club to support us in our first Indoor 3d. Dave had a huge heart for people and always had that big smile on his face when I saw him. My thoughts and prayers are with Dave's family, his many friends at FAC and to all of the people whose lives he has touched over the years.

David, the big guy with a big heart. The world has lost another great person that was so kind and carrying. David always remebered me from Morristown and would always say "HI", even though it has been many years. Carrie, I know what it is like to loose a father at this age because I also lost my father at 57 yrs. old and I was in my 30's. Why??, will be your thoughts for a long time.
