Reverend Robert D. Oman.

Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault
  Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Reverend Robert David Oman, age 94, of Warsaw died on the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Friday, June 6, 2014, at Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Robert, the son of David and Mabel (Sandstrom) Oman, was born on December 10, 1919 in Chicago. He graduated from Hirsch High School, Chicago in 1938. In 1942, Robert enlisted in the active service of the Army and served state-side in the Army Air Corps until the end of WWII. This is a time in his life that was always with him and it was fitting that he died on a day when many were commemorating this significant event in the war.

He graduated from Northern Baptist Seminary in Illinois in 1950, with a Bachelor's of Theology. Robert then went on to work for Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions, where he met Dorothy Robbins. Robert and Dorothy were married on September 11, 1953 and she preceded him in death on March 22, 2009. He started working for Baptist Mid Missions in 1959, doing home mission work in the greater Minneapolis - St. Paul area. In 1982, Robert changed his hours with Baptist Mid Missions to part-time status until his death. Robert was interested in missions and he enjoyed speaking in churches, church planting, Jewish history, fishing, chopping wood, ice cream and gardening.

He is survived by two children, David Oman of Chandler, AZ and Ruth (and Mark) Douglas of Warsaw; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister, Florence (and Donald) Johnson of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and one sister, Mildred Oman
