Douglas D. Hoy

Service: Trinity Lutheran Church - Medford
  Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
   
Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home - Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m.
  and at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.

Douglas D. Hoy, age 78, of Owatonna, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Owatonna Hospital.

Funeral services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Medford, on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Mark Biebighauser officiating. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault with veteranŐs military rites provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.

Douglas D., the son of Merle and Calesta (Reese) Hoy, was born on June 25, 1935 in Ellendale. He graduated from Owatonna High School and served in the United States Army. He married Alta M. Pofahl on June 30, 1959 in Medford. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2007. Doug was employed by Jostens of Owatonna for over 25 years and by Modern Printers of Faribault for 18 years. He also farmed in the Merton Township area and loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his son, Dan (and Tamara) Hoy of Owatonna; three grandsons, Chandler, Ryker and Brekxton; siblings, Margie (and Richard) Priebe of Waseca, Shirley (and Curt) Underdahl of Austin and Danny Hoy of Garden Grove, CA; brothers in law Bernard Matejcek , George (Judy) Pofahl;  sisters in law Judy Hoy, Ardis (Mike) Gallas, Annette (John) Emory, and many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Alta; one child in infancy; siblings Darrel and (Lucille) Hoy, Janice Matejcek and Merle Hoy, Jr.
