Sharol Ann was born October 27, 1945 to Ellwood and Mildred Carter of Osseo, Wisconsin where she grew up and graduated as valedictorian from the Osseo High school in 1963. She attended the University in Eau Claire and also worked at the Osseo nursing home. She then moved to Minneapolis and attended the Minnesota Institute of Medical Technology and graduated in 1966 as a Lab & x-ray technician. It was while she was in Mpls. that she came to assurance of personal faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She married Ron Wik of Osseo, Wisconsin in June of 1966. She then worked at the Waconia hospital while Ron was attending seminary in Minneapolis. Their daughter Sarah was born there in 1968.

They moved to Red Wing in 1969 where Ron began serving an Independent Lutheran congregation. Sharol began teaching piano students when they moved to Cannon Falls, MN. She was a member of the MMTA. This music became her passion and ministry, which she continued until the last few weeks of her life. She taught students for 12 years in Cannon Falls. She continued teaching in the Borup/Ada, MN area for six years and then in Faribault for the last 27 years.

She was also church organist, choir and music director. She made every parsonage a home for her family and all others in the congregation and community. She loved working with the children at church and working with the women's groups throughout her years as serving as a Pastor's wife.

Sharol enjoyed beautiful things, especially dolls, and was an active member of the Lady Slipper Doll Club.

To her family she has been a wise and loving woman who always pointed the way to Jesus as the only way to live with joy and hope.

Prov 31:28-30

28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. NIV

She was preceded in death by her father, Ellwood Carter; nephew, Erik Carter; aunts, uncles and grandparents.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Pastor Ronald C. Wik of Faribault, MN; daughter, Sarah (and Chad) Olstad and granddaughters Magdaline and JoAnna of Rochester, MN; her mother, Mildred Carter of Osseo, WI; brother, Arlan (and Loretta) Carter of Fall Creek, WI; niece Robin (and Regan) Chapiesky of Chippewa Falls, WI.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Bethel Ridge Church, Faribault, MN or Gideons International.

Memories

Hi Ron, Sorry to hear of your loss... I remember Sharol as one who laughed easily. Dave, I and Ben were neighbors of yours when you were living on 6th St (&Lincoln). I think in the early 1980's. Dave worked as a fulltime Fbo Firefighter and I carved and sold decorative decoys. Dave still has several family members living in Fbo, so we check the news now and then. Audrey

Memories

I do have many fond memories of Sharol. Pastor Ron served my parish before I married. Sharol always had a big smile and always wanted to help. MY mother and dad had told me that they prayed for Sharol a couple of weeks ago. MY thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family..

Memories

Sharol was the most gentle wonderful person. When I was little I would play with the other kids in the basement while they got ready for lunches or dinners. She would sweetly tell us that there were better toys upstairs and of course we would go running! I took piano lessons from her for many years. She was so patient with me, I didn't always like to practice. When I got married we took some photo's out behind Pastor's house and Sharol yelled out the window how beautiful I looked. She was the most amazing woman I've ever had the good fortune of getting to know.

Memories

So very thankful for the Life of Sharol! She was such a kind hearted woman with a beautiful smile and warm hug! She allowed God's love to show through her life, and was a beautiful example of a servant Pastors wife! So thankful for her example of how to live and also how to die. We have a man in our Sunday School class in Valley City, who had her for a piano teacher and also was the Pastors wife in his church in Minnesota, and we were talking about her kind spirit and how he really enjoyed her and had great memories of her! Looking forward to the day we will see Sharol again in a place where there is no more pain, and no more death! Thanks be to Jesus, our Lord and Savior! We send our love and prayers to Ron, and Sarah and family! May God hold you in your time of need! ~Love, John, Sarah, Cody, Tate and Hallie~

Memories

Sharol will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She and I were friends since elementary school and we shared the same name with a different spelling. We had many slumber parties, birthday parties, school functions, and the list goes on. We were very active in a church youth group in which Sharol's parents were the leaders. It was a fun time. She taught piano lessons to my oldest daughter while she lived in the Borup/Ada area. Since 1963 we have kept in contact with Christmas greetings and seeing each other occasionally as we both traveled and moved around Minnesota. Our 50th Class Reunion this past September will be special to all of us who attended and had our last visit with Sharol. We knew she was suffering, but she looked and smiled like a queen. Good bye my friend!!!

Memories

I am very saddened to learn of Mrs. Wik's passing. She was my piano teacher for 2 years in the mid-1990's. She was a very fun teacher, who always made learning a joy. She was someone I always admired and I always looked forward to my lessons with her each week. I will cherish those days with great fondness. With thoughts, prayers and God's Blessings during this very difficult time.
