Memories

I never had the chance to meet Ms. Jean Schmidtke or Mr. Schmidtke. But I grew up where Layne lost his life. It has been over 20 years now but for a lot of people in Colorado Springs that night still rings clear. I was reading again about it today and came to find out Ms Jean had passed. She was a good woman for the things she had done. Please know you are never forgotten. Your son is a hero, and so are you. May you all rest in the arms of the angels now. God has welcomed you all home. God Bless the family left behind. Your mom is a hero in my eyes. I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless, a soldier that still remembers

Memories

It's hard to believe that I will no longer be able to call my best friend up on the phone. I just don't know what to say, words cannot express how much Jeannie and her family have meant to our family in the last 35 years. I remember the first time I met Jeannie. I was searching for answers and I walked up to Jeannie and Roy's house thinking there might be a Bible study there. Her sister Lil,(who led me to the Lord, and I will be forever grateful to her for that) said there might be. There wasn't,Jeannie let me in and there was one. We met with Lois Anderson once a week, and the study grew. We were a messed up bunch of women, meeting to learn more about the Lord. We all were so young then. Vicki told me that Jeannie and Roy were like her uncle and aunt and you kids were like her cousins. We had good times together; playing cards, going to Youth group and sometimes just sitting at the kitchen table talking about the Lord and the things He has done for us and what we would like Him to do for us and our kids - right Jeff? Roy and Jeannie endured a lot of hardships, but I have also seen how He provided so miraculously in so many ways, so many times. Jeannie is my inspiration. Always knowing that God would come through right on time. She never let go of Him no matter what was going on in her life. I think sometimes He was her only source of hope. Can you picture Jeannie and Roy skipping along hand in hand with Jesus down those streets of gold, and that picture kind of takes away the hurt. Jeannie, I am going to miss you, but we'll see each other again. Thank you Lord for giving me just the right friend at just the right time.

To the Schmidtke and especially to Dee Dee. I am so sorry for your lose. This I know comes at an especially hard time for all of you with all that has been going on in your lives. I know that Jean is happy now that she is with LeRoy, but that will not take away your sorrow. You had some special parents that loved their family and was there for you. You have good memories and this will help them to live on. God Bless you through these days ahead and for time to come.

Memories

There are two priorities Jeannie had in her life, Jesus and her family. My hope is that none of you would turn your back on the legacy that she has left for each of you. She would not want you to be sad for her because I am sure Jenny is right, she is probably "dancing with the angels". There are so many good memories to dwell on...Bible studies, picnics in the park with the kids, sweet corn roasting potlucks, card playing New Year's Eve in, birthday parties, and just plain visits! There are many times that I remember stopping to visit and we would pray for her siblings, kids or grandkids. She really cared about each of you! You have my deepest sympathy. Jeannie will truly be missed!
