Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, February 10th from 1 to 5 p.m. and also for one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Kathleen S. Pleschourt was born July 5, 1942 to Sylvester and Loretta (Sartor) Kane at St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault, MN. She was the first of 8 children. The family lived on a farm in rural Medford and she attended school in Medford and Faribault. During high school she developed a special interest for art and music and enjoyed being a part of the marching band.

While working at Nelson's Supermarket in Faribault, she met Darrell Pleschourt and they were married on December 14, 1962. They lived in Nerstrand, MN where she provided in-home daycare service for 3-4 years until they moved to the family dairy farm in rural Cannon City in 1974. While on the farm Kathleen worked as a wife and mother for 10 years until she obtained her nurses aide certification in 1984. This certification opened the door to her true calling as a caregiver for the elderly. She began working at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield in 1984 and continued in that capacity until she retired in 2008. During her 24 years at Three Links Care Center she worked as both a Nurses Aide and Activities Assistant. She particularly enjoyed the activities role where she played the organ and other musical instruments at events and church services, had the residents help her with canning and crafts, brought the residents to her cabin on Lake Mazaska, and brought her dog "Hooker" to work. In 1998 she was recognized as the Minnesota Caregiver of the Year.

Kathleen had a variety of interests and talents. She played the organ, harmonica, and autoharp at the Nerstrand Bologna Days, the Rice County Fair, and numerous family gatherings. She sewed quilts, crocheted afghans, canned, gardened, and created ornate flower gardens. She enjoyed investigating and documenting family genealogy. She was particularly skilled as a Pyrographer where she wood-burned hundreds of detailed wildlife scenes. Kathleen was very active in the Grace Lutheran Church and Three Links Care Center annual bazaars. She was a charter member of the Three Links Auxiliary, enjoyed helping with Habitat for Humanity, and was proud to be a member of the Lake Mazaska North Shore Cooperative where Darrell and her had a cabin since 1997.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Darrell Pleschourt of Faribault; 3 sons; Michael (and Kathleen) of Faribault, Steven (and Carmen) of Pine Island, and Cory (and Gwen) of Northfield; 5 grandchildren; Andrew (and Michelle) Pleschourt of Lonsdale, Joseph Pleschourt of Faribault, and Rachel, Katie, and Adam Pleschourt of Pine Island; her brothers; James (and Donna) Kane of Eagan, Edward (and Sandy) Kane of Faribault, and Bud Kane of Faribault; her sisters; Elaine (and Howard) Stafne of Eagan; Eileen (and Lou) Romain of Eden Prairie; and Rosemary (Gene) Huckstadt of Hamilton, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

I am a cousin of Kathleen and I remember their family coming to visit our family on Sundays. Although we've lost track of each other in these later years, the memories of family fun remain. Kathleen was always out front, leading the parade. Peace be in your hearts.

Memories

Kathleen took care of my father when he was at Three Links, she was one of the kindest, sweetiest & most caring people that I remember there. Her infectious smile & how she could anyone to interact with an activity or conversation. My father was stubborn at times & she was wonderful at coaxing him to participte. She could even bring his hearty laugh out....which was so good to hear--as it did not often come out. My deepest sympathy to Kathleen's loved ones....she was an angel here on earth...now she has wings. God Bless her for all the love she had to give & her caring heart.

Memories

I remember at Cory & Gwen's wedding, the parents were asked to kiss so everyone "clinked" the glasses and us 2 couples were suppose to kiss our spouse. Well, we sure were surprised when Kathleen took Pat and Darrell took me and we got the biggest, juiciest kiss on the lips we have ever had! Something we are so thankful for too, is that Gwen always felt love from Kathleen as her mother in law. She taught Gwen how to can and now we will reap the blessings from Kathleen's gift for years to come.
