Quinn Lavern Ohlsen, the son of Dr. Mark and Ruthann Ohlsen, passed into eternity on Monday, December 9, 2013 at home in the loving presence of his family.

A Celebration of Quinn's life will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Joy Otten, pastor of Rejoice! Lutheran Renewal Church, Dundas, officiating.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also on Friday for one half hour prior to the service.

Quinn was born in Northfield, Minnesota. He came to us as a medical puzzle and he departed a teacher. He taught all of us how to love, forgive and start over. He had an amazing capacity to light up a room with his joy and his smile. Nothing was easy for him but he never stopped trying. His dream was to work, he loved to work, he wanted to learn and he loved to help. He grew into a Godly young man that humbly and kindly cared for all people. He cherished his day to day activities and routines that make for an ordinary life. He loved nature, farms, cows, mighty machines, music, art, people, the library and attention. He taught us how to see the extraordinary gifts that each day offered. Now we celebrate his release and new birth into the kingdom of heaven. He grew into a prayer warrior who was wise and prophetic.

Quinn cherished his sister, Jillian (Regan) Olson and his brother in law, Jared L. Olson, his most special staff, Annette Armstrong and Bernie Marx who cared deeply for all of us. We also wish to thank the Faribault School District for their on-going commitment to education. We thank Rice County for support services. We thank Dr. Carl Hansen, Neuro-Psychiatric, for his expertise in the understanding of the brain. We thank Gillette Children's Specialty Hospital and Clinics and Faribault Area Hospice for their tender care. We thank Buckham Memorial Library for the books, videos and conversations he had. We thank our families and the communities of Faribault and Northfield for their unwavering support. The complicated medical diseases that took over Quinn's body did not compromise the beauty of his life, which we now celebrate as his spirit and smile are free.

Memorials may be directed to Friends of Buckham Library.

Memories

Joshua was very sad when I told him Quinn was no longer with us. He talked about his many memories of Quinn, especially their mutual love of animals. He wanted me to tell you he hopes you will be ok. He also wanted you to know that he still has the cards and pictures from Quinn. Quinn was such a ray of sunshine and always brought a smile to my face. He was very lucky to have you both as parents. You definitely helped me be a better parent to Joshua. You have our deepest sympathy, May you find peace in knowing that Quinn is free from his pain.

Memories

I wanted to share this poem with the family. Quinn was always so sweet. I'll lend you for a while a child of mine He said For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he is dead. It may six or seven years or twenty two or three. But will you till I call him back, take care of him for me. He'll bring his charm to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief. You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, as all from earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn, I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have selected you, Now will you give him all your love---not think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to call to take him back again. I fancied that I heard say "Dear Lord thou will be done", For all the joy this child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run, We'll shower him with tenderness and love him while we may, And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay, And should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned. We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.

Memories

I was blessed to have Quinn in my life for almost all his 19 years. He taught me more than I will ever realize. The one thing he didn't teach me (or any of us) was how to live without him in the physical world. Praying for comfort and peace for Mark, Ruthann, Jillian and Jared, and all the lucky ones that knew Quinn.

Mark and Ruthy Ann it has been good to see you two grow in the Glory of The Lord. I am sure Quinn was one of your main motivational reasons. I will leave you with a verse The Lord gave me some years ago. Psalms 116:15 God says. " How precious in the sight of The Lord is the death of His Saints" God sees things we don't see, He and Quinn are now a closer blessing to one another. Love from Jan &. Ray.

Quinn was, and always will be, a wonderful friend to me. He was always ready to shower anyone with his extravagant knowledge of animals. Quinn has taught me to be a better person, and an even better friend. He was a blessing to this world, and he touched many people. He loved his family and friends, and cherished every moment spent with them, as do I cherish every moment I spent in his presence.

Memories

I cherish the times I was able to work with Quinn. His beautiful smile always brightened the room and Quinn's sense of humor, wonderfully timed. When riding in his wheelchair he pretended to drive his Peterbilt or Kenmore tractor trailer. He found joy in this which spread to me. For a long time he said was carrying turkeys, but that changed to cows. Quinn appreciated what was done for him and I am blessed having known him. He is an example of bravery and compassion.
