My dad...the smartest, most amazing man i've ever known!!! I just can't believe my daddy is gone, he was supposed to outlive me as i am fighting cancer again since nov. 30th of 2012!!! i made a speech at my dads funeral and i made it a point to tell everyone one of the most important things he taught me and my son Drake...he told us: if there is ever an opportunity to learn something, be there to learn it!!! he taught us so much! a message i felt important to share with the congregation was: everyone has differences at one time or another and sometimes they cause people not to talk to each other (in this case he and his 2 sisters, none of them talked to each other for years), the night he passed away his 2 sisters came to see me and they spoke for the 1st time in years! in fact, a week later one sister had surgery and the other one stayed with her for 2 nights to make sure she was ok!!! wow, it was amazing!!! my message is... TO PLEASE WORK OUT YOUR DIFFERENCES WITH SOMEONE IMPORTANT, SOMEONE U LOVE, CUZ ONCE THEIR GONE...THEY CAN'T COME BACK!!! the last time i spoke to my dad was on thanksgiving, i had told him my cancer had come back and i could hear sadness in his voice, but the conversation went on for about 1 1/2 hrs and i gotta say, it was the best conversation we ever had!!! i will always remember it because he hadn't actually called me for a very long time, i always had to call him! anyways, i love u dad and miss u more than u can imagine!!!

Memories

Dan served on the Oskaloosa Planning & Zoning Commission with me. I was greatly saddened by the news of his accident. Such a neat guy who cared so much about making a difference. He will be missed. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family as they deal with such a sudden & unfortunate loss.
