Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault
  Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Delbert H. Chapman, age 89, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Faribault, on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst officiating. Military rites will be provided by Central Veterans Association. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Wells.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Delbert H., the son of William and Amelia (Thompson) Chapman, was born on May 11, 1924 in Royalton. He married Suzanne Nixon on August 21, 1947 in Wells. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2009. He was a farmer, real estate agent and a cabinet builder. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed camping and was a great story writer.

He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Chapman of Faribault, Deb Freeman of Warsaw and Pam Chapman of Faribault; four grandchildren, Mandy, Caleb, Jacob and Eric; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Chapman of Freeport, IL; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue; and three sisters, Helen Jones, Meta "Mitzi" Rolf and Geneva Johnson.

Memories

I'm so sorry for your loss! Del was a wonderful man and, yes, a great story writer. I have a small collection of his stories in our family history which is also in the state archives for future generations. He was really wonderful but his kindness and his stories live on. Best, Nan (Amelia's sister Nan is my grandmother)
