Charles "Charlie" F. Filan, age 82, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Milestone Senior Living, Faribault.

Funeral services will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Charles F., the son of Joseph P. and MaryAnn (McAvoy) Filan, was born on February 5, 1930 in Mankato. He married Marilyn Queen on December 16, 1950 in Marysburg. Charlie farmed in the Madison Lake, Shieldsville and Kilkenny areas for many years. He also was employed by Green Giant, Ernie Faschnadt Construction of Madison Lake, Randy Roemhildt Construction of Elysian, Rud Construction of Lonsdale, Faribault Foods and Lakeside Foods of Owatonna. Charlie enjoyed woodworking, horseback riding and spending time with family and friends and his favorite dog, Freddy.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; six children, Larry (and Rita) Filan of Faribault, Gerianne Chamberlain (and special friend, Dan Ableman) of Faribault, Dan (and Cheryl Adams) Filan of Waseca, Joe Filan and John Filan, both of Faribault, and Chris (and Mike) Giroux of Winthrop; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; two sisters; one son, Michael; and one grandson, Lonn Strouth.
