CALVIN "CAL" WILKIE

Services: The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault
  Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation: The Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault
  Friday, December 21st from 4 to 7 p.m.

Calvin "Cal" Wilkie, age 79, of Medford, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna.

Services will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and also on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.

Calvin Alfred, the son of Harry and Emma (Baumgart) Wilkie was born on August 16, 1933 in Owatonna. Cal graduated from Medford High School in 1954. He married Wanita Sorensen on April 28, 1956 in rural Steele County. He was formerly employed at OMC in Owatonna, as a truck driver for various companies and later was the owner/operator of Wilkie Trucking of Medford.

He is survived by his wife, Wanita; four children, Kavin (and Debra) Wilkie of Owatonna, Wanda (and Patrick) Wicker of Callao, MO, Randall (and Carolyn) Wilkie of Ellendale and Cynthia (and Larry) Null of Geneva; 13 grandchildren; 3 adopted grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two siblings, Garnet Wier of Red Wing and Lorice (and Rose) Wilkie of Medford; his mother in law, Lola Sorensen of Cannon Falls; nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father in law, Ted Sorensen, Sr., two grandsons, Dustin and Travis Wilkie; one brother in law, Leo Wier and special friend, Mitzy.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Calvin's passing. He was a very good man, great compassion, and just plain fun to be around. I always had a good time talking with him, as he kept the conversation interesting. I consider myself luck to have known him.
