Patrick B. McDonald

Patrick B. McDonald, age 81, of Faribault, MN and formerly of Wausau, WI died on September 13, 2012.

Private services were held for the family.

Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.

Patrick was born on June 19, 1931 in Wausau, WI to Bernard and Leone McDonald.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Pat married Sharon Krizan on October 16, 1976 in Omaha, NE.  He was formerly employed by Haworth, Inc.

Pat was adventurous, and all of us who knew and loved him enjoyed the ride.  He was fortunate to be able to do many of the things he wanted to do in his years of retirement.  Traveling was a big part of that, and the trip to Italy in 2001 was one of the highlights.  Being able to spend time in Arizona was especially good, he loved hiking, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; five children, Michael McDonald of White Sulphur Springs, MT, Edith (and David) Kinney of Hudson, WI, Patrick (and Jolyn) McDonald of San Ramon, CA, Julie (and Tom) Cahoy of Plymouth and Colleen Stery of Watertown, SD; 9 grandchildren; three siblings, Thomas (and Marlys) McDonald of Sobieski, WI, John (and Ann) McDonald of Wausau, WI and Ann (and George) Graunke of Ortonville, MI, along with nieces and nephews.

Memories

Dear Sharon, Thank you for your call letting us know of the passing of Pat. We all have a lifes worth of memories together from Wausau to UW-Madison, to Phoenix, on to Tucson/LaQuinta for long walks in the early morning sun or some rain or windstorms and then to top it off with you and Pat visiting us in Castiglione del Lago, Italy. We were thrilled that you came to see us for a wonderful stay that really created memories that last forever. We look forward to seeing you when you come down to Tucson this winter. Our love to you and the family during this trying time. Love, Bob & Barbara

Memories

SHARON AND FAMILY: WE WERE HEARTILY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT OUR GOOD FRIEND, PAT. MY MEMORIES GO BACK MANY YEARS AS WE HAD MUCH COMMON BACKGROUND. AFTER COMPLETING OUR TWO YEARS AT UWMC WE WENT TO MADISON TOGETHER AND SHARED A UPPER FLAT FOR AWHILE UNTIL WE MOVED INTO THE FRATERNITY HOUSE. AFTER GRADUATION AND GOING OUR SEPARATE WAYS, WE CONNECTED AT OUR WAUSAU HIGH SCHOOL REUNIONS - AS IT SEEMED AS BOTH OF US ATTENDED EACH AND EVERY FIFTH YEAR, USUALLY SITTING AT THE SAME DINNER SETTING. I, TOO, LEFT WAUSAU MANY YEARS AGO SO IT WAS ALWAYS SPECIAL TO GET TOGETHER WITH OUR GROUP. PAT WAS ALWAYS ESPECIALLY ENGAGING, AND ENJOYED RECALLING MANY SIGNIFICANT - OFTEN HUMEROUS - PAST TIMES. WE PLAYED BASKETBALL AT UWMC, WHICH WAS LOADED WITH GREAT EXPERIENCES AND WE NEVER TIRED TALKING ABOUT IT. AT THE LAST REUNION, WE RECALLED, JOKINGLY, HIS EXPERIENCE AS A HIGH SCHOOL POLE VAULTER, AS THE HEIGHT ACHIEVED WAS NOT MUCH MORE THAT THE HIGH JUMPERS OF THESE DAYS! WE WILL NOT FORGET HIS ENGAGING PERSONALITY, CHARACTERIZED BY HIS READY SMILE AND QUICK LAUGH. HIS HIGH RESPECT TOWARD SHARON, FAMILY AND FAMILY MATTERS WAS CONSTANTLY PREVALENT. YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT LEGACY WHICH WILL STAY WITH YOU, FOREVER. GOD BLESS! LEE (AND BILLIE) MISKOWSKI
