Jerry J. Harthan, age 65, of Eagan, died on Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault. Interment will be at West St. Olaf Cemetery, Kasson.

Memorial visitation will be held for one half hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Jerry Jay, the son of Leland E. and Evelyn B. (Miller) Harthan was born on May 24, 1945 in Mason City, Iowa. He married Carmella M. Vigdahl on August 1, 1971 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Owatonna. He graduated from Clear Lake, IA High School with the class of 1963. He and his father loved airplanes and cars. He built an airplane and worked on V.W.’s. He worked at the bakery in Ventura, IA, Lifetime Motor Homes, Mason City, IA, with the railroad, delivered new recreational vehicles for Winnebago Industries and he was self-employed as a mechanic.

He loved to swim, read books, fly small airplanes, cars, history and movies about history and he loved to travel. He took Spanish in college and as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he always took an opportunity to informal witness. He kept tracts in his pocket, both English and Spanish. Jerry always had the pioneer spirit and would help the pioneers however he could by driving them out in service, working with them in service, inviting them over for a meal, work on their cars or give advice.

He is survived by his wife, Carmella; one daughter, Carlotta Jo (and Wilson) Quintuna of Burnsville; two grandsons, Jarin and Azariah Quintuna; one sibling, Jan Harthan-Kerdus of Mason City, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack Harthan; and a sister, Joan Collins.
