ELSIE WILKERSON

Elsie

Elsie Iva Wilkerson, 95, peacefully went home to heaven August 7, 2010.

Memorial services will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Robert L. Mundahl, officiating. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to services on Sunday.

Elsie was born February 5, 1915 in Enid, OK to Karl and Amalia (Albers) Koch. The first of three children, Elsie was 9 years old when her mother died. She cared for her brother and sister in an orphanage and foster homes until her father remarried and she was sent to Minnesota to live with relatives. She was twelve years old. Elsie lived the next 78 years in Minnesota. She married John Siewert in 1937 and they had two lovely daughters. That marriage ended in 1955. Elsie worked and raised her daughters for the next 15 years. She married Mel Lewison in 1970 and Mel died in 1977. Elsie then married Henry Wilkerson in 1986 and Henry died in 2005. Elsie then moved to Montana to live with her daughter Jane (& Wayne).

Elsie was young at heart and aged so well that it was always hard to guess her true age. She loved to travel, paint china, knit, quilt, sing and play piano and organ and be with family and friends.

Elsie is survived by her daughters Ellen Siewert (Fred Nolan) of Isanti, MN; and Jane (Wayne) Maahs of Libby, MT; 5 grandchildren, Norm, Terry, Janay, Alice, Jeff, and one great-granddaughter, Karley who loves her "Nana" very much. Also special is Alice's husband, Adam who charmed Elsie with his every smile.

Elsie will be missed by family and many friends. But we are comforted knowing she is where she needs to be now!

In lieu of flowers, please visit the Care Center or elder home near you.

Memories

I have some many memories of Elsie over the last several years. Elsie became a part of my life October 1986 and what a fun time we had. She was so young at heart and always up beat. Over the next 18 years we would go to craft shows, Gold Rush Days, garden tours and even made it up to Chanhassen dinner theater and don't forget the card playing - she was a sly one with those cards. Oh and we can't forget the shopping days! Her birthday was a special time for us to go shopping and try a new restaurant. Sometimes we would travel to the Cities and meet Ellen for the day. But the best memory of all was the time we just sat around the table and had tea and a good conversation about anything. I have truely missed Elsie over the years but the good times and the memories will always be with me.

Memories

Elsie was a special force in Bob's life as she was his God Mother & best friend of his birth mother. Bob & Elsie renewed their relationship when Elsie was attending a birthday party for Esther Knack in about 1999. Esther is Bob's aunt, sister to Bob's mom Lora. This where I also first met Elsie. We had a wonderful time visiting her in Sargent & Libby Montanna. Elsie painted beautiful china tea sets & we are honored to own two sets painted by her. Elsie & I had a wonderful time talking quilts among many other topics. Elsie will be missed by all.

Memories

Elsie was a very special friend to us. She was always young at heart, and I (Tammy) had the honor of being her beautician for several years and sharing many of Elsie's thoughts. We both enjoyed music and artwork and she did some amazing painting on china which she happily showed me how she did it all. When Art was a muscian playing in Austin she would come in and listen. We have missed her since she moved to Montana and often wondered how she was doing. I am certain she is at home with the Lord and happy in her new home. We will meet again! Our deepest sympathy to you. God bless you and comfort you now and always.

Memories

To Elsie's family: Elsie was next "door" neighbor on the farm when she was married to Hank. Mom (Opal Linbo) and Elsie would visit each other often for coffee and were also good friends at church. Mom always admired Elsie's taste in clothing and how she always looked beautiful. Mom died in 1998 at the age of 69 so I am greeting you and offering our sympathy on her behalf. I am her daughter and also knew and loved Elsie. I would think about her every time I drove by their farm.
