Carol M. (Mrs. Gordon) Shirey, age 75 of Faribault, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church, Faribault on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Dennis R. Tamke officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, July 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Carol M., the daughter of Walter and Iva (Houser) Carpenter, was born March 24, 1935 in Williamsport, PA. She married Gordon L. Shirey on February 12, 1955 in Williamsport and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1999. Carol volunteered at the gift shop at District One Hospital and the Clothes Closet, both of Faribault.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy (and Charlie) Slack of Omaha, NE; a son, Gordon (and Cindi) Shirey of Ogallala, NE; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Phil (and Pat) Carpenter of Williamsport; and her many dear friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon.
