Myron "Gudie" Gudknecht, age 81 of Faribault, died on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Golden Living Center, Wabasso.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Faribault on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst, officiating. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault with veteranís military rites provided by the American Legion Post #149, Morristown.

Visitation will be held in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also in the church for one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Myron, the son of Edgar H. and Evelyn (Miller) Gudknecht was born on June 28, 1929 in Faribault. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran School and Faribault High School in 1948. Gudie proudly served his country as a 1 star Staff Sergeant in the Minnesota 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict in 1951 Ė 1953, after basic training in San Diego, CA. He married Barbara Wolf on December 11, 1986 in Faribault. He was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 32 years and later by the Faribault Regional Center prior to his retirement. Gudie enjoyed hunting and fishing and he believed that "dogs are manís best friend".

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Karen Gudknecht of Naples, FL and Karla (and Bob) Soucie of Ft. Myers, FL; one grand daughter, Alana Soucie; two step children, Patty (and Brent) Gulsvig of Faribault and Linda (and Bob) Merchant of South Haven; four step grandchildren, Garrett and Graham Gulsvig and Jarred and Katie Violet Merchant; and the mother of his daughters, Alice Gudknecht of Faribault.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
