Gloria M. (Mrs. James) Burmeister, age 85, of Faribault, died on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at District One Hospital, Faribault.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Faribault, officiating. Interment will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m. and also on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.

Gloria M., the daughter of Alonzo L. and Marie M. (Morelan) Brandenburg, was born on September 10, 1925 in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1943 and married her high school sweetheart, James Burmeister on October 17, 1944. Gloria was formerly employed at Brandenburg's Food Market, Burmeister Marine, Land O' Lakes and Faribault Veterinary Clinic. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and volunteering at many State Parks. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and volunteered at River Bend Nature Center

She is survived by her husband, Jim; four children, David (and Cynthia) Burmeister of Waterford, WI. Diane (and John) Flom, Donald (and Janet) Burmeister and Debbie Burmeister, all of Faribault; 11 grandchildren, Heather Burmeister, Maren Kliewer, Rebecca Martin, Dale Burmeister, Amy Hinz, Anne O'Banion, Jason Burmeister, Jodee Kraft, Elizabeth Bove, Emily Matakis and Scotty Matakis; 16 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald and Dale Brandenburg; and one granddaughter.

Dear Jim and family, My deepest sympathies at this time. I remember meeting up with you at Carlsbad, NM where Gary worked with you building a rock wall in exchange for the campsite for a night. Or the time we met you in south Texas. Or the huge family reunions. Lots of wonderful memories.
