Dear Sir and Ma'am, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I was Arentz's Platoon Commander during his tour with 3/4 in 06-07 and I can say without hesitation that I am humbled to have served with him. He always did a superb job, and under life-threatening conditions. He had a great attitude and contributed significantly to the platoon's morale. I'll never forget his smile, even after being in the face of death, and it helped get me through that deployment. You have my deepest sympathies. Arentz (I know you're all Arentz, but that's how I'll always remember him) was among the best Marines I've served with, a true hero, and you have my undying gratitude and that of a grateful nation. With the utmost respect, Capt George F Mittnacht

Memories

Dear Beth, Sommer, and Mike, Our hearts are breaking with news of Troy's passing. Our nephew, Tyler Johnson, and Troy were best buddies in the Marines and came to see us in Phoenix several times on weekend leaves. It was an honor and a privilege to provide a few homecooked meals, a bed, a pool, and some fun times out with our son, Jimmy. Our grandson, Anthony, could hardly wait for the boys to come back and visit again. Troy was so polite, helpful, talkative, and fun to be with. He talked so highly of his sister and mother. He loved you all so much and couldn't wait to get home. He seemed to have had his life planned out with a maturity beyond his years. We will remember the young Marine always, his huge smile, and his kindness. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I wish this wasnt true. That a man with so much potential could be gone so soon. I have lots of good memories from this summer, my favorite is when you would take Jrs cars and hide them and he would just giggle. I know there is gonna be a very bright star in the sky tonight.
