Archie Lee Sanborn

 

Archie Lee Sanborn, age 94, of Faribault, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.

Funeral services will be at Prairieville United Methodist Church, rural Faribault, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Lora Sturm officiating. Interment will be at Cannon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 3 to 8 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.

Archie Lee, the son of Percy and Minnie (Kennivsher) Sanborn, was born on August 9, 1916 in Walcott Township, rural Rice County. Later they moved to Cannon City, where the Sanborn family was some of the first settlers. He married Ella May Sanford in the Dilley Chapel of Northfield Congregational Church on June 13, 1944. Archie farmed most of his life and they purchased their family farm in 1948. Ella May preceded Archie in death in 2004.

He is survived by eight children, Wayne Sanborn of Faribault, Mary Cleveland of Cresco, IA, Gail Hayford of Ogallala, NE, Margaret (and Harlow) Bauer of Kenyon, Ronald (and Gladys) Sanborn of Alexandria, LeRoy (and Mary Lou) Sanborn of Owatonna, Lionel Sanborn of Faribault and Sarah (and Jeff) Idso of Rochester; 26 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ella May; one daughter, Anna Mae Hammann on March 28, 1998; two sisters, Helen Caron and Minnie Jeno; one brother, Edgar Sanborn; and step siblings.
