Curtis M. Pederson, age 89, of Faribault, died on Monday, July 25, 2011 at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.

A memorial service will be held at Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church, Faribault, on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating.

A memorial visitation will be held at the church on Saturday for one half hour prior to the service.

Curtis Martin, the son of Martin and Frances (Jones) Pederson, was born on December 21, 1921 in Lake Preston, SD. He graduated from Erwin High School, Erwin, SD and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Donna B. Grotta on December 27, 1948 in DeSmet, SD. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2006. Curtis was employed as a farmer and as a custodian at DeSmet School District, DeSmet, SD and also by Faribault School District #656. He was a member of American Legion Post 43, Faribault.

He is survived by three children, Daniel (and Sherry) Pederson of Fargo, ND, Laurette Ambroso of Faribault and Pamela Schmidtke of Faribault; four grandchildren, Stuart, Curtis, Bobbi Lynn and Carrie Ann; three great grandchildren, Madison, Isabella and Anthony; and one sister in law, Vera (and Floyd) Abrahamson, Brookings, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; one son, Neal, in infancy; two sisters, Elsie Isaacson and Mary Aarbo; and one brother, Gordon Pederson.

I thank you for allowing me to be part of Curtis' life while I was employed at St. Lucas. Though his sleeping habits were a bit lacking here on earth, I truely believe the Lord will compensate him greatly now that Curtis has returned home. God bless each of you! Tonya Miller, LPN
