Memories

Dear Marcia and family, We just found out from Shirley Rindahl Stine that Gordie died in July. We are so sorry to hear of his death. Such a shock to us. Wish we could have been there to offer support, help, whatever. Never have the right words to say how sad we are at your loss. We remember all the fun times we had with our three kids and your three kids, all tow heads. We remember the fun times we had when we lived in Faribault and the few times we were able to visit when we were driving through. Dick remembers the times he worked with Gordie at the Faribault State Hospital and in the Guard. Gordie was one of the few "sane", level headed, down to earth psychologist that Dick knew while he was in Faribault. Please know that our prayers are with you and your family. Memories

Dear Marcia and Family. Gordy was very special and a one-of-a kind individual. His troops addressed him by first name and he motivated them to superior standards. We skiied the Birkbeiner together in 1980 and slept in his station wagon. He checkmated me at chess. He was certain of his Christian spirituality. He treated others as Jesus would have. Peace! There wasn't anything that Gordy wouldn't do for his daughter's...he was a wonderful father...family was a priority. I remember a birthday gift that he brought to work...Marcia or one of the girls made him a pair of outragious spandex pants that he could wear when he went to a Bon Jovi concert with his daughter(s) Rock climbing, biking, etc. He also was a good friend...he would always have time to visit at work or in the community. May all those wonderful memories sustain your family...

Memories

There are so many memories of growing up and going to your house for daycare to us your entire family was like family to us. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you during this time. Praying that Lord surrounds you and provides you strength during this time of need and that you are able to hold on to the many memories that will never be forgotten in your heart. I heard the poem below about a month ago. I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth And spoke of the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, The cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard; Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what's true and real And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect And more often wear a smile, Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while. So when your eulogy is being read With your life's actions to rehash Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash? .
