Memories

I met Jim on a Caribbean cruise in the fall of 1987. For these past 24 years we have kept in touch. I looked forward every year to the Christmas card and letter he sent, catching me up on what has been going on in his life. The last few years I was truly impressed and inspired by his upbeat, possitive attitude. He always signed his correspondences from "Your Friend Jim". A couple years ago I dug out some of the pictures from that cruise and sent them to him. I hope they made him smile. He will be missed.

Memories

Last November (2010), we had church pictures taken. The day that Jim had his pictures taken I was the sign-up desk making sure that everyone who had an appt. got in. He was on the list. While he was waiting for his session, we (the people who were also waiting and I) were talking about the last time that FELC has directory pictures taken, which was 2005. That day it was hot. He remembered that he was in shorts the day of his. This time it was the Monday before Thanksgiving. I told him, now you can't wear shorts. Rest in peace Mr. Fairclough.

Memories

Goodbye dear friend...... Jim was a man of the highest degree of intergity. He was honest and gentle with everyone he knew, understanding and accepting beyond expectations. Over the years we shared so many of life's events. From our serious heartfelt conversations to lazy summer afternoons floating endlessly at the lake, Jim met each day with the same optimism and pleasant smile. As our child's Godparent he was inspiring, he always made her feel loved and special. My family is blessed to have had this man in our lives, and we will cherish his memory always. He had a positive attitude even while he was fighting the cancer. I believe that kept him going.. I never heard a negative remark ever from him. He loved his two nieces especially, Gwen and Amanda...... Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. especially my cousin Judy and her husband..... May you find comfort that he is with his Mom.....

Memories

I am the person at Malt-O-Meal who is in charge of our benefit programs. Jim and I had many conversations over the years as he progressed through his illness. I have never met anyone who faced the health issues that he did, who had such grace, optimism, and strength as Jim did. He was a kind, gentle man. I admired him.

Memories

Jim was my cousin that I got to know later in our lives. He was thee kindest, gentliest man I have ever met. He was so very good and patient with his mother. So very glad she had him in her life. I will always remember the Saturday that Jim and I pent together. He took me all over Faribault and showed me the places that my Mother has talked about all her life. He took me to the cemeteries where family was and also the history of Faribault. A great loss. Will very much miss visiting with him when we come to Faribault in the spring. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Your cousin, Carol

Memories

It will not be the same around River Bend Nature Center without Jim's warm smile, good humor and a willingness to help out with whatever we needed. From serving on our Board of Directors, to giving golf cart rides at our Pancake Brunch, to counting deer at night, to working on the Ramble Committee and a million other things, we could always count on Jim to say an enthusiastic "yes!" when we needed assistance. Our lives were enriched by knowing Jim and we will miss having him here. His friendship means a great deal to us.

Memories

I remember back to all the elementary school days at Trinity Lutheran School. The first time I played basketball with Jim I was amazed at how aggressive he was and how well he played. My first thought was Trinity is now going to be a powerhouse in basketball, and we were for the next couple of years. Goodbye old classmate I will say a prayer for you.

Memories

Jim always had a smile and a positive outlook. He was a steadfast volunteer at River Bend and could be counted on to give his all for every project. I loved working with Jim and was always amazed at how his heart kept him working aggressively for causes he held dear, despite physical adversities. He fought the good fight and always remembered to give his best to River Bend. I am honored to have known him and deeply saddened by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
