Funeral services will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst officiating.

A visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Florence T., the daughter of Olaf and Leora (Stui) Gelen, was born on November 22, 1921 in Aure, Minnesota. After graduating from high school she met Ervin Evje. They married on May 27, 1942 and moved to San Diego, California. Upon returning to Minnesota, Ervin and Florence spent several years in northern Minnesota where she kept the books for a co-op creamery. They moved to Faribault in 1952 where she was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State of Minnesota at the Faribault State Hospital. After over 29 years of service Florence retired on November 30, 1983.

Florence cared deeply about her family and friends. She made everyone feel special. Cooking and baking for others made her happy, especially if you ate lots of food! She looked forward to holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. Her diligence in sending cards and making phone calls was truly amazing.

She is survived by one son, Roger Evje of Albuquerque, NM; one foster son, Merlyn (Marj) DeRider of Canyon Lake, TX; daughter in law, Jean DeRider; eight grandchildren, Tara, Alisa, Chele, Marc, Tony, Brad, Eric and David; one great grandchild, Emma; one brother, Louis (Vera) Gelen of Crookston, MN and relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ervin; two sons, Ervin T. Evje Jr. and Richard D. Evje; and one sister Hazel Jallen.

Memorials may be directed to Faribault Area Hospice.
