Memories

Dear Family of Leona: We returned from a month's vacation and was "catching" up on reading the papers when I came across notice of Leona's death. My heart ached! Both Spence and I worked with Leona at the Regional Center - and saw her at many garage sales and other activities after she/we retired. Her infectious laugh, great outlook on life, and her joy in seeing you - made you feel like the most important person in the world! Betty Schwartz had kept us somewhat updated on Leona but with being gone for over a month, didn't realize her health had taken a turn for the worse. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I know Leona's death has left a void that won't be filled - a void in your lives but all of ours too! Love and prayers to you all. Leona was a true friend! Pat and Spence Wilker

Memories

My sympathy to your families. I worked with Leona years ago at the Faribault Regional Center. She was such an inspiration and good friend to me at a time when I found myself raising my four small children alone after my husband left me. She accompanied me and my kids on a trip to Adventureland in Iowa, the first trip I took with them, just to help me. She was a joy to be around! My kids really had fun with her too. We lost track of each other after I moved on to a job at St. Peter, but I still think of her, and know she is in a joyful place with God. I will always remember her! Gods blessings to the family. Memories are too numerious to mention. I worked with Elmer at Vogels & remember him and Duane breaking through the ice with the vehical every year out on Horseshoe Lake, never getting hurt. Your mother at all the school events you kids were in and out at the farm and in town. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by everyone.
