Memories

I was so sorry to learn of your loss. I met several family members at the services for Luana in 2003. Subsequently, I visited with Richard several times at the farm. He was kind enough to share with me some of the material that Luana had gathered about the Deney family. I enjoyed our conversations very much. It was interesting to get his perspective about the history of the family, his and mine, and about the history of the area. I got the impression that he was a man of few words but I will never forget how cordial he was and how open he became. I felt like we became friends. Other members of my family have enjoyed learning about our backround and I have found a niece who is willing to carry on the tradition. I am very grateful to Luana and Richard and I am so sad that those links to the past has been severed. May it be of some small comfort to the family to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I regret that I will be unable to attend the services as I will be out of town. Brian J. Memories

Our family moved next door to Dick and Luana in 1973. Our children were babies and Bauer's youngest child was 6 years old. The girls were our main babysitters over the 10 years we lived there. Our relationship with the whole family was invaluable and has continued on to this day, even though our first 2 children live in Alaska now. When we moved next door our oldest Dan was 17 months old. When we went over to the farm Dan insisted to go to the barn first to look at the cows before going into the house to visit. As Dan got older, he spent many hours with Dick, especially enjoying milking the cows. Dick had just put in a new walk through milking parlor that first summer we were there. We enjoyed fresh milk from the cooler all the years we lived there. I grew up in a rural area and enjoyed being out on our friend's farms. Watching Dick I could see he loved his cows and there is no other job more dedicated than being out in the barn morning and night EVERY day to milk the cows and all the other daily chores associated with their care. When the cows were gone I was glad Dick had the opportunity to go fishing in Alaska with family members several years in a row. He deserved a good vacation!! Our family will continue to cherish many memories from Dick and Luana. Love, Blessings and Peace to all of the family. Barbara N.

Memories

Lois,Rebecca,Sere,Richard,Denise and Pete: I was saddened by the news of your Dads sudden passing and all of your are in our thoughts these days of saddness. We have many good memories being next door neighbors to your mom and dad.The boys Dan,Dave and Dale often talk about their time with you kids and Dick and Luana. Spent time this morning looking at pictures of the many fly-in fishing trips into Canada that Dick, myself and the kids took over the years and I must say they brought smiles and tears too,as time goes by way to fast.If I remember right Dick took pictures when we took our trips but if you would like some of mine just let me know. Many people have past my way during this trip of almost 64 years but only a few stay with me in my heart and are remembered as good souls and Dick is one of them. Take care all of you and appriciate the special gifts in your lives and maybe someday we will get the chance to see you again. Best wishs Dean

Memories

Sorry for your loss Bill and Sere. I remember halibut fishing in Alaska with your Dad. I especially remember the boat captain losing Ricahrd's giant halibut right as he was bringing it into the boat. I remember how he did not make a big deal out of it. I ended up with the biggest fish only because the boat captain lost your father's fish. The captain was far more upset than your Dad- I think....
