Victor V. Lips, age 89 of Faribault, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at District One Hospital, Faribault.
Funeral services will be held at Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church, Faribault on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment and military rites will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault by the Central Veterans Association.
Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Monday, June 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Victor Vernon, the son of Wesley and Lillie (Hildebrandt) Lips, was born February 11, 1922 in Lowry, SD. He married Oletha Plaisance on April 28, 1953 in Faribault. Vic served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of VFW Post 1562, Faribault. He was a member of NFO and farmed in Rice County until retirement.
He is survived by his wife Oletha of Faribault; a son Ron (and Paula) Lips of Faribault; granddaughter, Amanda (and Evan) Pasiczmyk and their children Linnea and Elizabeth, all of Rosemount; grandchildren, Thomas Nicholson of Minneapolis, Tim (and Teresa) Nicholson of Milaca, Katie (and Brian) Martin of Evergreen, CO and Michael (and Jennie) Nicholson, Jr. of Owatonna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Roger; a grandson, Greg; two sisters, Lillian Nelson and Florence Bakke and four brothers, Roy, Amber, Vernon and Myron Lips.

As a kid I remember Victor coming over to our place to help with haying after he got out of the Navy. I believe he rode his Indian motorcycle all the way from California. I recall his pleasant nature, contagious smile, and his being a nice person to be around.
